Watt a Deal! Dacia Spring Powers Pop-Up Chip Shop for National Fish and Chip Day

Tourists and locals in the seaside town of Deal, Kent, enjoyed a truly electrifying treat this National Fish and Chip Day (6 June), as TikTok’s Chip Shop Diva, Destiny Harold, served free chips from a pop-up chippy powered entirely by two all-electric Dacia Spring vehicles.

The pop-up, cleverly named the Dacia Batter-y Power Chip Shop, used the Dacia Spring’s Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology, which allows the car’s battery to power almost any mains device. Over the course of a busy lunch break, Destiny and the team handed out over 300 cones of chips and a limited run of battered fish, delighting the crowd gathered along Deal’s historic pier.

Research by Dacia revealed that fish and chips are a quintessential holiday treat, with 66% of Brits enjoying them on vacation, and almost three-quarters agreeing that they taste best by the seaside. Cod and haddock were named the nation’s favourites, and chips remain the most popular accompaniment.

Dacia partnered with The Blue Mermaid Fish Bar, a local chippy celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, to bring the event to life and promote the best of local fish and chip businesses.

The event was also celebrated by food psychologist James Cornish, who noted the enduring appeal of fish and chips as a national treasure, uniting generations across the UK.

Using it to power a pop-up chippy perfectly demonstrates how this electric vehicle can make everyday life more convenient – and fun!
