Renault E-Space Concept: Reimagining the Family Car for the Future

Renault has unveiled the E-Space Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, offering a glimpse into the future of family travel. Inspired by the original Renault Espace, which launched in 1984, this all-electric concept brings a fresh take on the family car, combining innovative design, flexible seating and a spacious, light-filled interior.

Rather than following the trend for SUVs, Renault has revisited the principles that made the original Espace stand out: space, versatility and putting people first.

A New Vision of Family Travel

The E-Space Concept has been designed around the people travelling inside it. Measuring 4.7 metres long, its distinctive shape combines the proportions of a traditional multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with a clean, modern exterior.

Large glass panels across the sides and roof allow natural light to flood the cabin, creating an open and airy atmosphere. Its slim lighting design, illuminated Renault logo and large 23-inch wheels give the concept a futuristic appearance.

An Interior Designed Around People

Inside, the E-Space Concept takes a different approach to traditional car interiors, with six individual seats arranged on a completely flat floor.

The seating layout is designed to adapt to different needs. The second-row seats can swivel to face the third row, creating a more sociable space for passengers. They can also fold down to form a table, making the interior more flexible for family journeys.

Other features include a built-in mini fridge, an air purifier, gaming controllers and a sliding central console. Together, these ideas demonstrate how Renault is exploring new ways to make time spent in the car more comfortable and enjoyable.

Technology That Looks to the Future

Technology plays a major role in the E-Space Concept, including a sweeping panoramic display that stretches across the dashboard. Called OpenR Panorama, this curved screen is designed to provide essential driving information while maintaining an open, uncluttered cabin.

The concept also features steer-by-wire technology, which replaces the traditional mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels with an electronic system.

Renault has confirmed that the OpenR Panorama display will feature in upcoming models in its executive range, with the next-generation Rafale and Scenic set to be the first to receive it.

Colourful Design and Innovative Materials

The E-Space Concept also revisits Renault’s history of bold interior colours, with a striking red-themed cabin, coral-coloured carpeting and carefully finished decorative details.

Its materials are another area of exploration. The interior incorporates alternatives to more traditional materials, including dyed straw trim, wool carpeting and bio-based materials. This reflects Renault’s continued interest in exploring more sustainable materials for future vehicles.

Looking Ahead

The Renault E-Space Concept brings together ideas inspired by the brand’s heritage with a forward-looking approach to electric mobility. Its spacious interior, adaptable seating and innovative technology demonstrate how Renault is exploring new ways to make family travel more comfortable and versatile.

As a concept car, it offers a vision of what future Renault vehicles could become rather than announcing a new production model. At Letchworth Renault, we’ll continue to share the latest news and developments from across the Renault range as the brand’s future takes shape.

Letchworth Autoway Centre Limited is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Letchworth Autoway Centre Limited to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a lender on our panel, which includes lenders of vehicle manufacturers. We have commercial arrangements with lenders and credit brokers which are likely to influence who we introduce you to. We are not an independent financial adviser and don’t give you any advice or recommendations. It is your choice whether you enter into any finance agreement.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked to the franchise offering you the vehicle. They will usually offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions (but we do not guarantee they do). If they are unable to offer finance, we then seek to introduce you to someone else on our panel. We will usually receive a commission for your introduction. This will be either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you choose.

Lenders of vehicle manufacturers may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will tell you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receiving this commission. The exact amount of commission will be confirmed before you sign your finance agreement.

All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18s or over. Guarantees may be required.
