Going the Extra Mile: How Smart Driving Can Help You Save Fuel in the Dacia Duster Hybrid

At Letchworth Dacia, we know that getting great value from your car is about more than just the price you pay upfront. It is also about enjoying affordable running costs, clever technology and a vehicle that works hard for you every day.

That is why we love the latest demonstration from six-time Guinness World Record holder Kevin Booker, who has shown how simple changes to driving style can help drivers get even more from their fuel.

Working with Dacia, Kevin tested the Dacia Duster Journey Hybrid 155 and achieved an impressive 79mpg in real-world driving conditions – improving on the vehicle’s official combined fuel economy figure of 61.4mpg by around 29%.

For many drivers, this could represent a significant saving over the course of a year, helping to reduce everyday motoring costs while still enjoying the practicality and versatility of an SUV.

Making Every Journey More Efficient

The Dacia Duster Hybrid 155 has been designed to deliver efficiency without compromising on the things drivers love about Dacia.

Its full hybrid powertrain combines a petrol engine with two electric motors, allowing the vehicle to drive using electric power in certain conditions, while regenerative braking helps recover energy that would otherwise be lost.

Combined with Duster’s lightweight construction and practical design, the result is an SUV that is efficient, comfortable and ready for everyday adventures.

Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference

According to Kevin, improving fuel economy is not about one single technique. Instead, it comes from a combination of smoother driving, better preparation and understanding how your vehicle works.

His top tips include:

Drive smoothly and look ahead

Anticipating traffic and avoiding unnecessary braking and acceleration can help your vehicle use less fuel while making journeys more relaxed.

Maintain the correct tyre pressures

Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance and can reduce efficiency. Regular checks can help your vehicle perform at its best.

Keep a steady speed

Maintaining a consistent speed on longer journeys can help reduce fuel consumption compared with frequent acceleration and braking.

Remove unnecessary weight

Clearing unused items from the boot and removing roof accessories when not needed can help your vehicle work more efficiently.

Use your vehicle’s technology

Hybrid vehicles are designed to recover and reuse energy. Smooth driving allows the hybrid system to work at its most effective.

Letchworth Autoway Centre Limited is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Letchworth Autoway Centre Limited to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a lender on our panel, which includes lenders of vehicle manufacturers. We have commercial arrangements with lenders and credit brokers which are likely to influence who we introduce you to. We are not an independent financial adviser and don’t give you any advice or recommendations. It is your choice whether you enter into any finance agreement.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked to the franchise offering you the vehicle. They will usually offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions (but we do not guarantee they do). If they are unable to offer finance, we then seek to introduce you to someone else on our panel. We will usually receive a commission for your introduction. This will be either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you choose.

Lenders of vehicle manufacturers may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will tell you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receiving this commission. The exact amount of commission will be confirmed before you sign your finance agreement.

All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18s or over. Guarantees may be required.
