Dacia Signs Bog Snorkelling Champion as Sport’s First Professional Athlete
Dacia, the car brand with a true spirit of adventure, has officially signed six-time Bog Snorkelling World Champion and record-holder Neil Rutter as the sport’s first-ever professional athlete.
Following his latest victory at the 2025 Bog Snorkelling World Championships in Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales, Neil, a Bath-based schoolteacher, has been awarded a first-of-its-kind professional contract and funding with Dacia. He is now proudly inducted into the Dacia Adventure Community, a group of like-minded adventurers ranging from mountaineers and divers to weekend hikers and sunset chasers.
Neil has dominated the sport, winning the World Championships for the sixth time with an impressive time of 1:18:13, cementing his status as the most recognisable figure in bog snorkelling. The quirky yet demanding sport involves swimming two lengths of a 60-yard trench cut through a peat bog using only a snorkel and flippers – a true test of endurance, technique, and determination.
Neil Rutter, 2025 World Bog Snorkelling Champion, said:
"As always, it’s an honour to participate in the Bog Snorkelling Championships! This year comes with even more cause for celebration as I join the Dacia Adventure Community. Dacia’s spirit of adventure makes them the ideal partner, and I’m proud to become the sport’s first professional athlete. I look forward to exploring more of the outdoors with Dacia and discovering what adventures lie ahead."
Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director UK, added:
"Adventure is in Dacia’s DNA, and Neil perfectly embodies that spirit. His dedication to bog snorkelling – a sport that requires endurance, skill, and a love of the outdoors – makes him an ideal member of our Adventure Community. We are thrilled to welcome him as the first professional in the sport and can’t wait to see the adventures he’ll tackle next."
With this exciting partnership, Dacia continues to celebrate and support everyday adventure, inspiring people across the UK to explore the outdoors, push their limits, and embrace new experiences.
